My Journey…
As an introvert who enjoys the quiet solitude of working at a computer screen, I was shocked to discover many years ago that I’ve got a bit of an extrovert in me. I not only sought out events with other human beings, I also helped to organize some. And I enjoyed it. I realized that I very much enjoy finding and creating fun experiences for myself (because who doesn’t), but I find a comparable amount of joy in facilitating these occasions for others.
So Far…
Then, as I’ve grown my vocational creative skills over the years, my focus began changing. I found that for me the greatest enjoyment is using my skills either to help others see the familiar in a creative new way or to encourage better social connections. And when I can help do both—watch out! I start to resent the existence of sleep since I feel it’s robbing me of precious hours (every day!) that I could be putting towards the best projects ever!
Eventually I refocused that resentment onto the fact that those “blessed” projects and opportunities are far too rare for my liking. I knew I must invent more opportunities for such projects myself. Thus Nerd Endeavors was born. Here I want to spawn more instances of the special alchemy that comes from creativity + connectivity, and then see where it takes me!
